Emergency First Aid (2 day) Course Information

 The Emergency First Aid (2 day) course is very popular with anybody whose interest take them out into the hills and mountains, be it walking, climbing, biking, paragliding, horse riding or simply just enjoying them!   This course is designed to give you the practical skills and knowledge to be more prepared should a first aid incident occur, especially if this happens to be in a remote area.

 The course is fully certified and recognised by most national governing bodies such as the Mountain Leader Training (ML, SPA, MIA, MIC, IML & BMG) British Canoe Union (BCU) BASI and the RYA. This course is also suitable for youth workers (voluntary and professional) in most youth organisations.

The course can include the Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) at an extra cost of £4. Should you require this certificate, please state so at the time of booking.

Topics covered include:
  •   Role of the first aider, principles of first aid, equipment and prevention of cross-infection
  •   Assessments of situation and casualty
  •   Airway, breathing and circulation assessment
  •   Safe Airway Position and treatment of unconscious casualties (including seizures)
  •   Basic life support (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation – CPR)
  •   Choking
  •   Treatment of severe bleeding and shock
  •   Treatment of major injuries, head and chest
  •   Treatment of fractures, minor and major
  •   Common life threatening conditions including heart attack, asthma and diabetes
  •   Hypothermia and Hyperthermia
  •   Management of emergency situations, including basic casualty movement

Duration:

2 Days (16 hours), continuously assessed, non-residential
